Converse x John Elliott Skidgrip

It might come as a surprise that the story of the Skid Grip silhouette really begins as early as 1910, when sneakers called Converse Circular Vamp Oxford made their first appearance. And yes, as the name suggests, they were very similar to Oxford shoes. Then they began to transform, playing an irreplaceable role on many tennis and basketball courts. But they also got on the decks of ships and on skating rinks. The name "Skidgrip" was given to sneakers in the early 1960s as a reference to anti-slip soles for boat sailing. Two decades later, the shoe became a mediator between the emerging community of BMX riders, skaters and the surf scene.
Now it returns mainly thanks to the collaboration with the luxurious streetwear brand Fear of God. Founder and designer Jerry Lorenzo fell in love with this silhouette for its simplicity and comfort at a young age, which revolved mainly around the skate and BMX culture. Next in line was the collaboration with designer John Elliot. We believe that these collaborations reincarnated the model once again and that it therefore deserves a new story.
