You can look forward to a new exhibition in our Prague store. Patrik Krišák, a talented painter with specific handwriting, presents a part of his collection of paintings called “Extinction.” This series, focusing on global warming and disappearing nature, brings a deep reflection on our world and its future. We caught up with Patrick to discuss his inspiration, work, and relationship with fashion.

The Path to Art

Patrick’s path to art was not a straightforward one. In his words, he started to do art only when his older brother discovered drawing and led him to it. In high school, he studied furniture restoration, which gradually led him to his own work. While studying and after an eye injury that prevented him from continuing his restoration work, he devoted himself full-time to painting.

Patrick’s paintings are characterized by a special technique where he does not use a brush, but various containers and oil paints mixed with turpentine. This unique approach gives his works a distinctive character and deep symbolism.

Technology and Inspiration

Patrick’s style is recognizable through his gestural painting, where he uses the technique of inverting containers of paint onto the canvas. This process allows him to create traces of color and gestures typical of his work. Krišák’s work is thoughtful and controlled, which distinguishes it from the usual gestural painting full of random blobs and flicks. His paintings are often the result of long thoughts about color combinations and techniques.

He draws inspiration for his “Extinction” series from global warming and disappearing nature, specifically coral reefs. Each painting features a stylized coral or reef, often depicted against a white background, highlighting its beauty while drawing attention to the threat of their extinction.

Exhibition in Footshop

The Footshop exhibition is a unique combination of fashion and art. Patrick’s colorful and bold paintings contrast beautifully with the modern environment of the store. While selecting new sneakers, you have the opportunity to see the different techniques that Patrick uses, including oil sticks, glitter, and spray paint, which adds dynamism and deep texture to his work.

Patrik and Fashion

Patrik makes no secret of his interest in fashion. He likes to experiment with different styles, including streetwear and classic tailored fashion. Comfortable sneakers are an integral part of his wardrobe, and he can’t imagine life without them. This is evidenced by the fact that JanČerný came to the meeting in collaboration with the Prestige brand. He follows fashion trends and supports his friends who are dedicated to fashion.

His interest in fashion is also reflected in his collaborations with designers such as Terézia Rozália Kladošová, whose colorful and extravagant pieces correspond with Patrik’s colorful paintings. Another example of his connection with fashion is the eyewear from Kahotski Eyewear, which he considers an integral part of his style. Patrik has his eyewear custom-made, which he believes provides an unparalleled comfort and aesthetic experience.

Patrik Krišák brings to Footshop not only his unique paintings but also a strong message about nature conservation.
