Materials
DWR (Durable Water Repellent): A special water-repellent coating that is applied to the top layer of the material. It works by reducing the surface tension of the fabric, so that moisture is not absorbed into the fibres but forms droplets on the surface that run off easily. This treatment is key to maintaining breathability - if the outer fabric were to soak up water, it would form an impenetrable barrier that would prevent body vapour from escaping outwards. While DWR doesn't provide complete waterproofing like a membrane, it is an essential accessory that keeps clothing light, dry and fully functional even in rainy weather.
PFC-free water-repellent treatment: A modern water-repellent treatment that ensures the functionality of the material without the use of harmful perfluorinated chemicals. These substances are non-degradable and toxic in nature. Alternative PFC-free technology creates a tension on the fabric surface that allows water droplets to flow away instead of soaking in. You get reliable protection from moisture that is kind to your health and the environment.

The year was 1877 when sailor Helly Juell Hansen decided he didn't want to get helplessly wet on his deck anymore. But if he wasn't going to submit to the dreary Nordic weather, he had to come up with something real. And that's what happened! Helly and his wife started a waterproof outerwear company that keeps you warm even when the weather isn't cooperating. Today, you can see the brand's logo not only on professional athletes, but also on all those who simply want to feel comfortable, and not just in the outdoors. In fact, the brand's products perfectly combine its outdoor heritage with a design that is tailor-made for the city.
