New Balance 1906
The return of a running legend: the Y2K aesthetic at its best
The New Balance 1906 is more than just an archive piece from the Boston-based brand. It's the very definition of what a modern interpretation of the Y2K trend should look like. Its original silhouette debuted in 2009 as a performance running shoe, but it's only since its rebirth that it's experienced its true hype. The current version, which you know as the New Balance 1906R, takes the best of the original DNA and mixes it with the technologies of the 2002R model. The result? A silhouette that dominates the streets and Instagram feeds, while ensuring maximum comfort.
The number in its name refers to the year New Balance was founded, clearly signalling the status Boston accords this model. Whether you're looking for technical precision, futuristic visuals or a retro vibe, the 1906 category offers exactly what you'd expect from premium trainers.
1906R: Remastered technology and everyday comfort
The heart of the range is the New Balance 1906R (Remastered) model. It shares the same cushioning unit as the popular 860v2. What does this mean for you? Unrivalled comfort thanks to the N-ergy technology in the sole, which absorbs shocks perfectly, and the ABZORB system under the heel and forefoot. Arch stability is ensured by the Stability Web element, allowing you to spend the whole day on your feet without compromise.
The upper features breathable mesh and synthetic inserts that create the signature 'caged' look at the heel. It's precisely this detail that makes the 1906R such a statement piece. Popular colourways include silver metallic variants(New Balance 1906 silver metallic), which perfectly embody the tech-runner aesthetic, but you won't go wrong with timeless classics like grey, black or pure white.
Protection Pack, Utility and Loafers: Choose your style
There's more to the 1906 world than just one cut. Footshop offers different variations that push the limits of what a trainer can be:
- New Balance 1906D (Protection Pack): Follows on from the massive success of the "ripped" design of the 2002R model. The upper is made up of layers of raw-cut suede, giving the shoe a deconstructed, sharper look. The ideal choice if you want to attract immediate attention on the street.
- New Balance 1906 Utility (1906U): For those who need extra durability. This version often uses ripstop materials, reinforced elements and a more technical lacing system inspired by outdoor equipment.
- New Balance 1906 Loafer (1906L): A real game-changer that blurs the line between formal shoes and trainers. The combination of a classic loafer upper with the comfortable running sole of the 1906 is the answer to the current wave where high fashion meets streetwear functionality.
Functional improvements: Cordura and Gore-Tex
But it's not just about style. If you're looking for a reliable partner in the elements, look out for the New Balance 1906 Gore-Tex models or versions with indestructible Cordura fabric. These variants ensure you stay dry through autumn showers or mild winters, without sacrificing style. We often offer them in earthy tones such as green, beige or in a tactical all-black version.

Super produit, mon fils est ravi.
More than a century of tradition based on stable and reliable movement. These are the New Balance shoes, which have become a symbol around which a cult of comfortable walking and running lovers has been created during the 20th century. But beyond sneakers, New Balance is also at the forefront of everyday and sports fashion. Every year, a special collection is released and more than one football team boasts the NB logo on their jersey.
The history and development of New Balance shoes
On our website and practically anywhere else, you won't find a large number of brands as old as New Balance. In fact, as early as 1906, the New Balance Arch Support Company was formed to provide specific aids for each shoe. These were designed to not only provide comfort to the then not-so-comfortable shoes, but more importantly stability by supporting the arch of the foot - hence the name New Balance.
However, New Balance sneakers as shoes did not start to come out until many years later. Specifically, the first silhouette of a New Balance shoe saw the light of day in 1960 when the Trackster model came out. It was unique among the others primarily because it was the first outright running shoe with a crimped sole.
But the marketing didn't work very well and for a long time New Balance shoes were still a community affair. It wasn't until the 1970s that sales started to grow, with the popularisation of running, which was also linked to the hosting of the now iconic Boston Marathon. New Balance shoes began to become popular among runners and the company slowly but surely became a leading manufacturer of running shoes.
For running? Yes, but also no.
Today, however, men's and women's New Balance sneakers aren't just a running thing. Over years of branding and image building, they have become sneakers for almost every situation. Today we wear New Balance shoes before a trip to the countryside, a city walk but also a social event and still undoubtedly before a sporting performance.
New Balance sneakers can therefore be found in a variety of different designs. Men's and women's, in black and white and many other colours. The most popular models today are mainly New Balance sneakers with the 247, 373, 574 and 997. Of course, you can find all these New Balance shoes on Footshop. But besides these, there are also many others and the ranges of the latest silhouettes are constantly growing. So before you make your final choice, carefully examine all of our New Balance sneakers.
A record for stability.
New Balance footwear today is not afraid to venture into collaborations with other fashion brands, but also artists or athletes. It's not so long ago that the NB logo also started to appear on the jerseys of some football teams, and it's not impossible that the brand's influence and reach will continue to grow in the future. New Balance sneakers are worn, for example, by Trayvon Bromell, the American sprinter who became the first junior ever to break the magic ten-second mark in the 100 metres. Could it be that New Balance shoes helped him to achieve this?
In short,New Balance sneakers are a phenomenon that we have been wearing for many decades and everything indicates that we will be wearing them for many decades to come. And hopefully in greater numbers. The original intention of the brand, to make wearing sneakers on a daily basis more enjoyable, has not left New Balance shoes even more than a century after the legendary phrase was introduced to the market.
So be part of a tradition with a clear vision and name your sneakers with the iconic NB in the logo.
