Stüssy is a clothing brand and private company founded in 1980 by Shawn Stussy. The brand is one of many that emerged during the 1980s from the SurfWear trend, which took off primarily in Orange County, California. By 1992, Stüssy clothing was being sold throughout the United States in specialty boutiques and department stores.
But there was much more to the development of the Stüssy brand than "just" surfing. The last decades of the last century belonged to subcultures and underground music styles.
