History: A tribute to 90s trail sneakers

Venturi was created as part of Veja's expanding range, a French sustainable brand founded in 2004 by Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion. The design of the model consciously references 90s trail running shoes – a chunky, "robust" look that remains surprisingly lightweight thanks to modern materials. The exact date of its first release isn't publicly documented, but the model has gradually expanded to include several versions, including the second generation Venturi II.

This process involves collecting, cleaning, and shredding used plastic bottles and industrial waste into small flakes, which are then melted and spun into new recycled polyester fiber (rPET). This material has exactly the same technical properties as virgin polyester – it is extremely strong, lightweight, quick-drying, and wrinkle-resistant. However, the main benefit is ecological: recycling PET bottles consumes 59% less energy and produces 32% less CO₂ emissions than producing new plastic.
