Birko-Flor®: High-quality, skin-friendly and durable synthetic material that has been developed specifically for the Birkenstock brand. It consists of two layers: the top layer is made of hygienic PVC, which is easy to maintain and tear-resistant, while the bottom layer is made of soft, breathable fleece. This combination makes the material very comfortable, does not cause blisters and is pleasant to the touch even when worn on bare skin for long periods of time. Birko-Flor® is popular for its durability and its ability to faithfully imitate the look of leather, whether smooth or nubuck.

It is a lightweight, elastic polymer that is inserted in the form of foam into the midsoles of sports and leisure shoes. This foam contains thousands of microscopic air bubbles that act as miniature shock absorbers. The EVA material is especially valued for its ability to effectively absorb shock on impact while providing a soft, comfortable feel with every step. Its versatility has made it the standard from which all modern cushioning systems are derived.
