Carhartt WIP OG Detroit Jacket
The story of Carhartt WIP begins in Detroit, where Hamilton Carhartt started crafting durable clothing for workers in 1889. This city is embodied in the jacket OG Detroit Jacket, which maintains an authentic workwear silhouette. In blue, it feels natural and gains its own character with each wear. Throw it over a hoodie or a simple tee, and you’ve got an outfit that stands on quality, not fleeting trends. It’s a piece you’ll return to for years, aging gracefully with you.
The jacket is made from heavy cotton denim with a weight of 407 g/m². The fabric is durable and will comfortably adapt to your body over time. The cotton lining feels nice against the skin and adds a bit of warmth on cooler days. The collar and regular fit maintain a classic workwear line that suits both women and men. The jacket zips up, and you can adjust the snap cuffs to your sleeve length, while the adjustable hem lets you set how the jacket sits. You can stash your phone, keys, or chilly hands in the side pockets. The embroidery and print add branded detail without feeling overdone. Try it with straight jeans in a different shade for a denim-on-denim look, or with cargo pants and chunky sneakers. Carhartt WIP was established in 1989 as a European line that brought workwear into the realms of skateboarding, music, and street culture.

Founded in 1994 by Edwin Faehe, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) develops custom collections based on original Carhartt workwear. The brand combines authentic adaptations of rugged American archetypes and collaborates with the subcultures that surrounded it. On the other hand, Carhartt WIP also managed to get into new contexts and bring its own classics. From the late 1980s onwards, countercultures around the world adopted the rugged spirit of Carhartt originals workwear and created their own style. With a growing network and a strong base, Carhartt WIP opened its first store in London in 1997 and began to engage in cultural spheres outside its own industry. As a result, the brand established its own skate team and music department, while supporting a number of artists and publishing various publications.
Since 2010, Carhartt WIP has collaborated with a number of like-minded brands including A.P.C., Converse, Fragment Design, Junya Watanabe, Nike and Vetements, as well as working with music icons such as Fela Kuti, Underground Resistance and Vestax.
