The biggest football event of 2024 is just around the corner. Both in terms of dates and geography. Because the European Football Championship will take place in Germany in mid-June. And the adidas EURO Style Cup project, in which we were selected as one of sixteen stores from all over Europe, is also linked to this event!
adidas prepared a competition in which each retailer prepared a football jersey design. The voting is taking place in the adidas CONFIRMED APP, and we would be very grateful if you would vote for our jersey.
Our adidas EURO Style Cup jersey represents where we come from. Of all the jerseys in the competition, we are the only one from the Central European region. That’s why we wanted to incorporate as many elements as possible in the design of our football jersey that refer to Prague and the Czech Republic. We chose black and grey for the color combination, which reminds us of the streets of Prague and other cities in Central and Eastern Europe. However, we drew our main inspiration from Prague, specifically Letná – a neighborhood in Prague, which represents a place that many of us associate with football, skateboarding, and music, where we all often meet and spend time together.
Two details on the front of the jersey stand out. At first glance, the distinctive red chevron and the metronome hidden in the crest on the heart. Both the chevron and the metronome, logically representing the same architectural work at Letná, evoke a sense of never-ending movement. And when we thought about what number and name tag to put on the back of the jersey, the choice was quite clear – EURO 96 is still the greatest achievement of the independent Czech football team. Even though we went to the championship as outsiders that nobody counted on, we brought back silver medals.
Now our jersey, in which we put a piece of our heart and the cultural heritage of Prague and the Czech Republic, has a chance to shine again in European competition. We have a chance to return the final defeat of 1996 to Germany. Only if we win this tournament will the jersey really become a reality and be produced.
