You can call them collabs, partnerships, whatever you want. But the fact is that for the last several years, they ruled both the worlds of sneakers and fashion alike. Basically every brand does them these days. And even though they sometimes don’t come out that good, they still hit high sales numbers.

First off, Nike definitely doesn’t belong to the group of brands that started doing collaborations due to their popularity and trendiness – they’re the pioneers. Nike’s headquarters have always included a specialized segment that selects brands to collaborate with and oversees the realization.

Collaborations-wise, 2019 was probably Nike’s strongest year. This inherently means that some of them might not have been that good, but that doesn’t matter because today, we’re going to take a look at the 5 best collaborations Nike gave us last year.

Nike x Sacai LDWaffle

What better way to start this list? In my opinion, this is not just one of Nike’s best collaborations this year, but also in general. We can also look forward to new monochromatic colorways and an upgraded sole in the upcoming season.

Nike x Missing Link Air Max Susan

Phil Knight, Nike’s prominent ex-director, also happens to own an animation studio – Laika – with his son. Their studio produced the movie Missing Link, which got its own pair of Air Maxes, called the Susans.

Nike Air Max 97 „Holy Water“

It’s important to note that this technically isn’t a real Nike collaboration – it’s a modified Air Max 97 silhouette, courtesy of MSCHF x INRI. The number of pairs made is in the double digits, and featured a retail price of 1 425 dollars – these days, resellers ask for up to about eight times that. And yes, the bubble really contains 60 milliliters of holy water.

Air Jordan 1 x Travis Scott

Some of you might have started getting a little bit annoyed by Travis Scott’s ongoing collaboration with Nike, but you must admit that the models are all very successful and also easy on the eyes.

Comme des Garçons, one of Japan’s most famous brands showed this model off in Paris last year. The modified Tn Shox silhouette’s most prominent feature is the wrapped-around chain.
